The world the JW's detest...
by TD inhow many times have jw depictions of paradise shown cozy little gabled, shingled, lapsided, wood frame houses tastefully situated in front of mountain lakes without a hint of technology?
i've lost count.
i've always thought this picture betrays an unbelievable naivete about how technology works.

Can any JW answer OldSoul's 4 questions about JW teachings scripturally?
by kwintestal ini am waiting for any jehovah's witness to offer support in scripture of these four articles of faith: .
(1) the faithful and discreet slave is a class of people, .
(2) that the holy spirit directs organizations in addition to individuals, .

it seems to me that the one parable that kills JWs whole arguement for this faithful and descreet slave status is
the one about the wheat and the weeds and letting them GROW TOGETHER until the harvest which would be done by ANGELS not humans and this gathering seems to be AFTER Jesus started his judgement in the very end, not before.... there is no evidence that JWs have any special status when it comes to all wheat and no weeds as this would suggest from their Belief System.... infact their disfellowshipping reports would indicate that a whole lot of weed was still being smoked, er, still among them.

how could someone believe that our most holy god would let a scribal error happen to his own word that he gave us, the holy bible?
there are no errors in the holy bible, not even a scribal error. there are things our almighty god can't do: lie and err.
skeptics try to poison our minds with sentimental approaches to stumble true believers. like: why did god drown babies and slaughter innocent people? or why did god punish all living beings only because the first humans ate a fruit?
don't fool yourself - who are you to question our loving father? prayer, worship and theocratic activity will help you to stay on track.
googlemagoogle, true born again bible christianhollowed are the ORI and blessed are all those who accept their ways.

The Bible...trust in Faith or trust in Fact?
by jgnat ini read the most extraordinary claim the other day.
"the bible is factual.
" i wondered, how could the speaker possibly back up such a claim?

My point, why stop at ripping on the Bible's veracity? Hell, pretty much all of what we think we know about our history is at best moderately suspect if not highly suspect. What George Washington really said to his troops, who the hell knows, I know what I was taught in history class but we really can't say for sure what exact words came out of his mouth, etc.
In my opinion we take a whole lot more on faith than the Bible.
if the bible were taken to be just cultural mythology [as many of have come to beleive] or inaccurate history as some contend, then no problem....but when it comes to whether this is from a supernatural source or not than the issue of its veracity must be dealt with, no?

I used to have this thing about sitting with my back to the door or window of a resteraunt.... I would always find a way to put my back to the wall so I could see who was coming at me.... it felt like I had been in the military or something but couldnt understand it until I did my 2nd past life regression and relived being shot to death by someone who snuck up on me from my left while I was looking right....
after that I have not felt the need any more

following everything I have ever learned has lead me into a blind alley.... namely that everything I know and believe is my own minds interpretation and invention and subject to blind spots I cannot even know about. so nothing I know by experience need relate to reality at all....that leaves me with the simple acknowledgement that every move I make is a gamble to some degree. experience teaches me that some gambles pay out more often than others and that science is basically the best odds making tool I can think of, though by no means perfect in any absolute sense. Religion on the other hand strikes me as the invention of con artistry, wanting me to bet my time and effort on longshots which have never been demonstrated to work in any verifiable way.... the parts of religion which do appear to work can be easily derived without the religion involved and often demonstrates that the religon is not necessary rather than the reverse that religions claim [that the experienced evidence supports it].I am especially wary of bets which can only be verified after death where no one but me may know if they worked or not and no one can tell me that they have verified it themselves....the best they can do is tell me a voice that I cannot hear told them about it... and experience does not seem to show invisible voices to be reliable guides to anywhere but the boobie hatch.

Stargate SG-1 The Ori
by blondie inhas anybody been watching this season's shows with the new menace, the ori?.
daniel and vala have been saved from the fanatical ori followers, but because their savior is an ori priest and they're still trapped in "borrowed" bodies in a distant galaxy they're not exactly home-free.
instead, the priest transports them to the ori's holy realm of celestis, where daniel begins to uncover the secrets of the mysterious gods.. .

Wasn't there an "outer limits" or "twighlight Zone" episode that seemed to deal with the DF issue? I saw it years ago. If those under punishment tried to speak to others or make a friend, glowing spheres floated down to stop them.
it was an episode called THE INVISIBLE if memory serves.... they had a silver ball stuck into their head when they were guilty of some crime and everyone who came across them would say INVISIBLE and shun them.... and they were not even allowed to talk to other invisibles without fear of having their sentance extended...

and the final revelation that the ORI are CON ARTISTS who suck the life force out of their victims for their own use and offer nothing
but slavery in exchange despite all the promises. also sounds WAY too familiar

1) Who is the creator of the universe?
what evidence is there that the universe was created? I find none.
2) Why are we here, where are we going?I suspect we are here because after eons of time, this is the best thing we could come up with to kill time
3) Why do we grow old and die?because getting a bad rap eternally is no fun...this way we can start over fresh again
4) Will suffering ever end?suffering is a mental state and mental states can be unlearned or altered by education.
5) Would you go to war against fellow beleivers?
I believe we are all one on a deep level and I have no desire to harm myself
6) What does Jesus' sacrafice mean to you?fairy tale mythological legend which has no meaning to me any more

After my un-DF'ing, I have sent a letter to everyone in my hall.
by kwintestal inin the final installment of my story, i am done with my local congregation now.
in the past month, i have been df'd, un-df'd attended a meeting where i shook everyones hand and smiled ... and now i have sent everyone in the hall this letter, roughly 60 addresses:.
open letter to the north congregation of jehovahs witnesses.

Nothing in this letter can be construed to indicate you are DAing yourself, just that you don't feel safe bringing your family to the KH. I wonder what they will do--DA you or leave you alone. Not that it matters much.
I disagree, from what I read, he is telling them that he is pretty sure that there is NO spirit of Jehovah as advertised, protecting his or any other congregation which amounts to saying that he believes JWs are not the chosen ones or that there is no god at all.... either way that can be construed as DA-ing
